| My
name is Cindy Mayfield, and my husband George and I live in Battle
Ground, Washington, about a half hour north of Portland. Over the years
I have always been extremely active in dogs. While still in high
school, I put a championship and obedience Utility degree on a homebred
Pug! After we were married in 1973, we bred and showed Smooth Fox
Terriers to numerous AKC group and specialty placements, and my first
Smooth was the #2 Bitch in the US at the time. We have been involved
with Aussies since 1985 when we got our first ASCA Aussie,
Skipper. We got him after we had children because the
terriers
were a handful, and the kids always wanted to let the wrong dogs out of
their crates at the same time! When my 3 children were 4-H
age,
they showed Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, and won every competition
hands down! They were often High in Trial in obedience at AKC, 4-H, and
Specialty competitions. I truly adore the Cavaliers, but their heart
problems caused mine to break far too often. My oldest daughter started
what became a family tradition while in high school, raising Guide Dog
for the Blind puppies. My youngest daughter and her husband now live
with guide dog #6, a yellow lab named Fresno and my “other boyfriend”,
grandson Foster. George has his beloved black-tri ASCA Aussie, Cookie,
that he trained in agility but her job now is to be his shadow and
share his recliner. For me, the smaller minis are much easier to groom,
crate, transport, share the sofa with, etc! All of our dogs are house
pets, and 2 share our bedroom every night. Our dogs have OFA good or
excellent hips and have current CERF eye certificates. When we have
puppies, they are born in our bedroom and spend a few days there before
being moved to the living room. We live on 2 1/2 wooded acres with a
huge open pasture that the dogs love to romp in. Please feel free to contact me anytime about my dogs- I love talking about "my 4-legged kids" ! |
